Well, it took a bit of time getting there, but the Federal government has finally got its changes to superannuation through the parliament.
As those who have been following the twists and turns this year will know, the government announced a series of proposed significant changes to super on Budget night on 3 May.
While some of the proposed changes were welcomed, others were not and resulted in stiff opposition, with a lot of the resistance coming from within Coalition ranks.
As a result, on 15 September, the government announced a set of revised proposed changes. This led to further debate and further revision of the proposed changes before they were finally passed by parliament on 23 November – with most of the changes set to come into effect on 1 July 2017.
